Jonatan graduated from Langston University in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education and Recreation. In 2013, during the last season of his collegiate football career, things began to spin out of control. It was a series of life events that led him to place his faith in Christ.
Jonatan now lives a surrendered life that honors Christ as he serves as the Mercy Ministries and Median Adult Pastor at Edmond's First. He desires to reach the community by sharing the gospel and being the hands and feet of Jesus while meeting the physical and emotional needs of others.
Jonatan enjoys spending time with his three boys, all types of physical exercise, and reading theological books. Jonatan is now pursuing a Master’s degree in Theology at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. In October of 2022, Jonatan married the love of his life Keeshia and they share their story of waiting on God.
Before coming to Christ, Jonatan and Keeshia both did things from a worldly perspective. They both had broken relationships which left them with scars, heartaches, and an inability to love the way God wanted them to.
Jonatan had many relationships outside of marriage which led to having children and a lot of baggage that he carried. Keeshia also had gone through similar relationship experiences yet without having children. However, they didn’t meet each other until after they both came to know Christ as their Lord and Savior.
Up to this point in Jonatan’s life, he had been celibate for several years, waiting on a wife but not necessarily preparing for her. Keeshia had attempted several relationships as a Christian, but they ended in more brokenness due to her living to appease man and not God.
Both eventually began to truly focus on the Lord and what he had planned for them when they participated in a recovery ministry called re:generation. During re:generation, you do life with other believers, but also are challenged to be open about your past struggles and harms done to you. It was during those moments Jonatan began to see how beautiful Keeshia’s soul was behind all of her brokenness. He could see she had a real love for the Lord, and desired to live Holy above all else. At the same time, Keeshia began to see Jonatan’s heart for Jesus and his love to serve others. However, due to them being in recovery they decided not to pursue a relationship until they had finished the 12-step program. Once it was complete, they began meeting up in public places to get to know one another.
In January 2022 they officially began to date, and the more time they spent with one another, the more they saw Christ in each other’s lives. By May, Jonatan knew that Keeshia was the woman he had prayed for through all the years of waiting.
On August 20, 2022, Jonatan proposed to Keeshia during a huge milestone in Keeshia‘s life. It was during Keeshia‘s Physical Therapy Board exam celebration when Jonatan took the floor and put all the attention on her. He congratulated her for all of the hard work she had put into accomplishing such a great achievement. Then, he dropped to his knee as his words left him. Planning to tell her how much she meant to him and how he’s prayed for such a God-fearing woman, he asked, "will you marry me?" To which she quietly replied "yes" due to being completely and utterly shocked.
These two individuals waited patiently on the Lord through every aspect of their relationship. They pray together, read scripture together, serve alongside each other, and they’ve also decided not to have their first kiss until their wedding ceremony. This is the story of what happened when the Miles’ waited on God and His timing.
