The Book of Colossians
Sermon Date: Sunday, November 16, 2025
Scripture: Colossians 1:15-20
DAY 1 — Christ Reveals the Father
Scripture:
“He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.”
Colossians 1:15
Thought:
Christ is not a mere reflection of God—He is the exact imprint of God’s nature. Everything Adam failed to
reveal perfectly, Christ fulfilled entirely. When we behold Jesus, we behold the heart, holiness, compassion,
justice, and glory of the Father. The world offers countless “peaks” that try to draw our attention, but Christ
rises above them all.
Action:
Read one chapter from the Gospels today. As you read, ask: What does this show me about God’s character
through Jesus?
Prayer:
Father, open my eyes to behold the beauty of Christ. Help me see who You are by looking to Your Son.
Restore Your image in me as I walk closely with Him. Amen.
Reflection Questions:
*Where have I sought understanding or guidance apart from Christ?
*What aspect of God’s character is most clearly revealed to me when I look at Jesus?
DAY 2 — Christ the Creator and Sustainer
Scripture:
“For by Him all things were created… all things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all
things, and in Him all things hold together.”
Colossians 1:16–17
Thought:
Christ created all things—visible and invisible, earthly and heavenly. Nothing exists outside His rule or
reach. Not only did He create everything, He holds everything together—even when our lives feel like they’re
falling apart. The same power that sustains galaxies can sustain your heart, your marriage, your mind, and
your future.
Action:
Identify one area of your life that feels fragile or chaotic. Write it down and intentionally place it “into Christ’s
hands” today.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, You created all things and hold all things together. Hold my life, my thoughts, and my
circumstances. Teach me to rest in Your sustaining power. Amen.
Reflection Questions:
*What area of my life feels like it’s “falling apart”?
*Do I trust that Christ’s sustaining power is enough for that specific situation?
DAY 3 — Christ the Head and Commander
Scripture:
“He is the head of the body, the church… that in everything He might be preeminent.”
Colossians 1:18
Thought:
Christ is not merely one influence among many—He is the Head. He commands, leads, loves, and defines
His church. If He is the Conductor of our lives, everything is aligned and ordered. But if He is treated as just
one instrument among many, disorder always follows. He leads the resurrection parade—the firstborn from
the dead—guaranteeing our own resurrection hope.
Action:
Examine your schedule, priorities, and affections. Where is Christ truly preeminent—and where is He simply
present?
Prayer:
Jesus, be the Conductor of my life. Take the lead in my decisions, my desires, and my direction. Teach me to
submit joyfully to Your lordship. Amen.
Reflection Questions:
*Is Jesus truly preeminent in my daily decisions?
*What competes for first place in my heart?
DAY 4 — Christ the Reconciler
Scripture:
“For in Him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through Him to reconcile to Himself all things…
making peace by the blood of His cross.”
Colossians 1:19–20
Thought:
Christ reconciles all things—broken people, broken creation, broken hearts. No sin is too great, no wound
too deep, no life too shattered for His redeeming love. He doesn’t just fix what is damaged—He makes all
things new. His blood brings peace where there was alienation.
Action:
Confess one area of sin, brokenness, or fear to Christ today. Let His reconciling work touch that specific
place.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for reconciling me through Your cross. Heal what is broken in me and bring Your peace where
there has been unrest. Help me trust Your power to restore all things. Amen.
Reflection Questions:
*What part of my life needs Christ’s reconciling touch right now?
*Do I fully believe that He can restore what feels beyond repair?
DAY 5 — Christ Is All We Need
Scripture:
“His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness.”
2 Peter 1:3
Thought:
Christ is not only supreme—He is sufficient. He has given us all we need to live a godly life: His Spirit, His
Word, His presence, His power, His promises. Because He is over all, created all, commands all, and
reconciles all, we can surrender all to Him. Christ is enough—always.
Action:
Make a list of the “peaks” competing for your attention—worries, desires, fears, distractions. Pray over each
one and symbolically “place” them beneath the supremacy of Christ.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, You are over all, and You are enough for all. Help me live in Your sufficiency. Teach me to
surrender every part of my life to Your loving authority. Amen.
Reflection Questions:
*What have I believed I needed in addition to Christ?
*What would change in my life if I truly believed Christ is sufficient?
