Sermon Series Week Eight: Veiled & Unveiled Glory of Christmas

Sermon Date: Sunday, December 21, 2025

Scripture: Luke 2:8-20 & Colossians 1:15-20

Each day is designed to move the heart from adoration → trust → surrender, giving a whole picture Christ during the Christmas season.

Day 1 — Glory in the Darkness

Scripture:
“And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them…”
Luke 2:9

Thought:
The night was ordinary. The shepherds were ordinary. But God interrupted the darkness with glory. Christmas begins not in palaces or temples, but in fields and shadows. God chooses the lowly places to reveal the highest glory, reminding us that no moment and no person is beyond His attention.

The glory that shone was not the angel’s own—it was reflected glory from being in God’s presence. This same glory now comes near to us in Christ.

Action:
Pause today and invite God into the “ordinary” spaces of your life—your work, your routine, your weariness.
Ask Him to reveal His presence where you least expect it.

Prayer:
Father, thank You that You enter the darkness of our ordinary lives with Your glorious light. Help me to recognize Your presence even when life feels routine or unnoticed. Open my eyes to Your glory today. Amen.

Questions:

*Where do you feel overlooked or unnoticed right now?

*How might God want to meet you in that place?

Day 2 — Good News for the Humble

Scripture:
“Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.”
Luke 2:10

Thought:
The first announcement of Christ’s birth was not made to kings, priests, or elites—but to shepherds. God reveals that His kingdom is received through humility, not status. Christmas declares that salvation is for the spiritually bankrupt, the weary, and the lowly.

The shepherds teach us how to receive Christ—not with pride or entitlement, but with wonder, faith, and
obedience.

Action:
Practice humility today. Confess your need for God in prayer and thank Him that His grace is sufficient for you.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You that the good news of Jesus is for all people—including me. Help me to come to You with humility, dependence, and faith. Remove pride from my heart and replace it with gratitude and trust. Amen.

Questions:

*In what ways do you struggle to admit your need for God?

*How does knowing Christ came for the humble change the way you approach Him?

Day 3 — The Glory Veiled in a Manger

Scripture:
“You will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.”
Luke 2:12

Thought:
Here lies the great paradox of Christmas: the fullness of God in infant flesh. The One who created all things entered the world quietly, vulnerably, and humbly. His glory was real—but veiled.

Like a priceless diamond wrapped in a plain paper bag, Christ’s true worth was hidden from most. God shows us that true glory is not loud, impressive, or self-promoting—it is humble, sacrificial, and loving.

Action:
Reflect on areas where you equate glory with success, appearance, or recognition. Ask God to reshape your understanding of true greatness.

Prayer:
Jesus, You are the radiance of God’s glory, yet You humbled Yourself for me. Teach me to value what You value and to see glory through the lens of humility and love. Amen.

Questions:

*What expectations about success or greatness might God be challenging in your life?

*How does Christ’s humility reshape your view of glory?

Day 4 — Glory Revealed and Proclaimed

Scripture:
“For unto you is born this day… a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”
Luke 2:11

Thought:
Though Christ’s glory was veiled, God did not leave it hidden. Angels proclaimed His birth. Divine titles declared His identity. Miraculous signs pointed to His majesty. Heaven itself could not remain silent.

Jesus is not merely a baby—He is Savior, Messiah, and Lord. Christmas reveals that the invisible God has made Himself known in the person of Christ.

Action:
Speak the name of Jesus today with intention. Whether through worship, conversation, or testimony, proclaim who He is.

Prayer:
Father, thank You for revealing Your Son to the world. Give me boldness and joy to proclaim Jesus as Savior and Lord, just as the angels did. May my life reflect His glory. Amen.

Questions:

*Which title of Jesus—Savior, Christ, or Lord—do you most need to embrace today?

*How can you more intentionally proclaim who Jesus is to others?

Day 5 — Bearing the Glory of Christ

Scripture:
“But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.”
2 Corinthians 4:7

Thought:
Just as God’s glory dwelled in the burning bush and in the infant Christ, His glory now dwells in us through the Holy Spirit. We are ordinary vessels carrying an extraordinary treasure.

Our calling is not to draw attention to ourselves, but to reflect Christ’s glory through humility, obedience, and love. As we live surrendered lives, His glory shines through our weakness.

Action:
Ask God to remove any “veils” in your life—sin, pride, fear, or distraction—that hinder His glory from being reflected through you.

Prayer:
Lord, I am a jar of clay, but You have placed Your treasure within me. Remove whatever veils Your glory in my life. Help me live with humility and confidence, pointing others to You. Amen.

Questions:

*What might be veiling God’s glory in your life right now?

*How can you intentionally reflect Christ’s glory this Christmas season?

Closing Reflection:
This Christmas, may we go and see like the shepherds, ponder like Mary, and live humbly like Christ—so that His glory may be seen through us, for in Him all things hold together.
