Sermon Series: The Journey of Faith

Day 1 – Called Into the Unknown

Scripture:
“By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called… and he went out, not knowing where he was going.” (Hebrews 11:8)

Thought:
Faith begins where certainty ends. Abraham didn’t get a roadmap—he got a promise. God often calls us forward without revealing every detail, inviting trust over control. The power of faith is not in knowing the destination but in knowing the One who calls.

Action:
Identify one area where you’re waiting for clarity before obeying God. Take one small step of obedience today—even if you don’t see the full picture.

Prayer:
Lord, help me trust You when I don’t understand. Give me courage to obey Your voice even when the path is unclear. Strengthen my faith to follow You step by step. Amen.

Questions:

  1. What is God asking you to trust Him with right now?
  2. What holds you back from obeying when you don’t have all the answers?

Day 2 – Living as a Pilgrim

Scripture:
“By faith he went to live in the land of promise… living in tents.” (Hebrews 11:9)

Thought:
Abraham lived in tents in the very land God promised him. Why? Because even the promise wasn’t the final destination. Faith reminds us: this world is not our home. We are travelers, not settlers.

Action:
Evaluate your priorities. Is your time, energy, and focus centered more on temporary things or eternal ones? Adjust one habit today to reflect eternal values.

Prayer:
Father, remind me that I am just passing through this world. Help me not cling to temporary comforts but live with eternity in mind. Amen.

Questions:

  1. In what ways are you treating this world like your permanent home?
  2. How would your decisions change if you truly lived as a pilgrim?

Day 3 – Seeing the Invisible

Scripture:
“He was looking forward to the city… whose designer and builder is God.” (Hebrews 11:10)

Thought:
Faith sees what the eyes cannot. Abraham looked beyond tents to a city built by God. Faith anchors us in future promises, not present circumstances. What you “see” by faith shapes how you live today.

Action:
Spend time imagining God’s promises—eternity, restoration, His presence. Let that vision reshape your current worries.

Prayer:
Lord, help me fix my eyes on what is unseen and eternal. Strengthen my faith to believe Your promises more than what I feel or see. Amen.

Questions:

  1. What “invisible” promise of God do you need to hold onto right now?
  2. How does focusing on eternity change your perspective on today’s struggles?

Day 4 – Faith in God’s Promises

Scripture:
“She considered Him faithful who had promised.” (Hebrews 11:11)

Thought:
Sarah’s faith wasn’t in circumstances—it was in God’s character. When everything said “impossible,” she believed God was faithful. Faith grows when we shift focus from our limitations to His reliability.

Action:
Write down one promise of God you need today. Speak it aloud and meditate on it throughout the day.

Prayer:
God, You are faithful even when my faith feels weak. Help me trust Your promises over my doubts. Strengthen my confidence in who You are. Amen.

Questions:

  1. Do you struggle more with trusting God’s power or His faithfulness?
  2. What promise from Scripture can anchor you in this season?

Day 5 – Longing for a Better Home

Scripture:
“They desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one.” (Hebrews 11:16)

Thought:
Faith creates longing—not for more here, but for more there. Abraham and others died without receiving the full promise, yet they never turned back. Why? Because their hearts were set on something better: God Himself.

Action:
Fast from one worldly distraction today (social media, entertainment, etc.) and use that time to seek God and reflect on eternity.

Prayer:
Lord, deepen my desire for You above all else. Let my heart long more for heaven than for anything this world offers. Amen.

Questions:

  1. What competes with your desire for God and eternity?
  2. How can you cultivate a deeper longing for your “better country”?
