Sermon Series: God’s Glorious Grace

Day 1 — From Death to Life

Scripture

“And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked…” — Ephesians 2:1-2

Thought

Paul begins by reminding us of the reality of our condition apart from Christ: spiritually dead. Dead people cannot rescue themselves. No amount of effort, morality, religion, or good intentions can bring spiritual life.

This truth is difficult, but it is also grace. God lovingly reveals our true condition so we can stop trusting ourselves and start trusting Him. Before we can appreciate salvation, we must understand what we’ve been saved from.

The beauty of the gospel shines brightest against the darkness of our sin. We were not weak people needing improvement—we were dead people needing resurrection.

Action

Spend time honestly confessing areas where you have tried to rely on yourself instead of God. Ask the Lord to help you see your need for Him more clearly.

Prayer

Father, thank You for showing me the truth about my heart. I confess that I cannot save myself or fix myself apart from You. Help me stop relying on my own strength and fully trust in Your grace. Thank You for loving me even in my brokenness. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Questions

  1. What areas of my life reveal that I still try to depend on myself instead of God?
  2. How does understanding my spiritual condition make God’s grace more meaningful to me?

Day 2 — But God

Scripture

“But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us…” — Ephesians 2:4

Thought

Two of the most hope-filled words in Scripture are: “But God.”

Humanity was hopeless, helpless, guilty, and spiritually dead—BUT GOD stepped in. He was not forced to save us. He was moved by mercy and love.

God did not wait for us to clean ourselves up before coming to us. He met us in our worst condition. His grace is not earned; it is given freely through Christ.

Sometimes we believe the lie that we are too broken, too sinful, or too far gone. But the cross proves otherwise. God gave His Son for sinners. No one is beyond the reach of His grace.

Action

Write down one burden, failure, or sin you’ve been carrying. Bring it honestly before God and thank Him that His mercy is greater.

Prayer

Lord, thank You that my story does not end in hopelessness. Thank You for stepping into my brokenness with mercy and love. Help me believe that Your grace is greater than my failures. Teach me to rest in what Christ has done for me. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Questions

  1. Why is it hard for me to believe God’s grace is enough for my failures?
  2. How have I personally experienced God’s mercy in my life?

Day 3 — Saved by Grace

Scripture

“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God.” — Ephesians 2:8

Thought

Salvation is a gift, not a reward.

We live in a world where everything is earned—grades, promotions, recognition, approval. But God’s salvation works differently. We cannot earn forgiveness, deserve mercy, or achieve righteousness on our own.

Grace means God gives us what we could never obtain ourselves. Jesus lived the perfect life we could not live and died the death we deserved. Through faith, we receive His righteousness as a gift.

This leaves no room for pride, boasting, or comparison. Every believer stands before God the same way: completely dependent on grace.

Action

Take time today to thank God specifically for His grace instead of asking Him for something. Worship Him for what He has already done.

Prayer

Jesus, thank You for saving me by grace. I could never earn what You freely gave. Forgive me for trying to prove myself worthy. Teach me to live with humility, gratitude, and confidence in Your finished work. In Your name, amen.

Questions

  1. In what ways do I still try to “earn” God’s love or approval?
  2. How does salvation by grace change the way I view myself and others?

Day 4 — Alive in Christ

Scripture

“Even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ…” — Ephesians 2:5

Thought

Grace does more than forgive us—it transforms us.

When God saves a person, He makes them spiritually alive. Old desires begin to change. New purpose begins to grow. The believer is no longer defined by sin, shame, or the past but by their identity in Christ.

You are not who you used to be. You may still struggle, fail, and grow slowly at times, but God is continually shaping you into His workmanship.

The Christian life is not about trying harder in your own strength. It is about walking daily in the new life Christ has already given you.

Action

Reflect on one way God has changed your life since coming to Christ. Thank Him for His transforming work in you.

Prayer

Father, thank You for making me alive in Christ. Thank You that my past no longer defines me. Continue shaping me into the person You created me to be. Help me walk daily in the power of Your grace. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Questions

  1. How have I seen God transform my heart, attitudes, or actions?
  2. What old habits or mindsets do I need to surrender to God today?

Day 5 — Created for Good Works

Scripture

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand…” — Ephesians 2:10

Thought

We are not saved by good works, but we are saved for good works.

God’s grace changes both our identity and our purpose. As His workmanship, we are called to reflect His love, mercy, and truth in the world around us.

Good works are not a way to earn God’s favor; they are the evidence that His grace is already at work within us. A transformed life naturally produces obedience, compassion, forgiveness, generosity, and service.

God has uniquely prepared opportunities for you to glorify Him and bless others. Your life matters in His kingdom.

Action

Look for one intentional way today to serve, encourage, forgive, or bless someone in the name of Christ.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for creating me with purpose. Help me live in a way that reflects Your grace to others. Open my eyes to opportunities to serve and love people well. May my life point others to Jesus. In His name, amen.

Questions

  1. What good works or opportunities might God be calling me to step into right now?
  2. How can my daily life better reflect the grace I’ve received from Christ?
