Peter Van Gee

Assistant Worship Leader

Peter Van Gee serves as Assistant Worship Leader at Edmond’s First Baptist Church, where he leads and plans the 11:00 AM modern worship service each week. He directs the praise band, invests in developing the music ministry team, and works to ensure that each gathering is rooted in biblical truth and centered on Christ. His desire is that worship would help people encounter the Lord through His Word and respond with sincerity and faith.
Peter’s music ministry began in 2004 at First Baptist Church of Hennessey, where he first served as the church pianist and later as music minister. During that season, he sensed a call to ministry while attending Youth Evangelism Conference. He went on to serve for thirteen years as Minister of Music at Seward Road Baptist Church, also stepping in as Interim Youth Minister during his final season there. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Music Business from Oklahoma State University.
Peter married his wife, Emily, in January 2022. They have one son, Cord, and two goldendoodles, Hartlee and Harper. Peter works in the oil and gas industry, and enjoys golf, meaningful conversations over coffee, and cheering on the Oklahoma State Cowboys in his free time. A verse that continues to shape his life and ministry is 2 Peter 3:9, a reminder of the Lord’s patience and His desire for all to come to repentance.

“However, no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows.”
