Children's Ministries

Welcome to EFBC's Children's Ministries!  This is the place to find information about all the children in your household, from birth through grade 5.  Programs and activities for multiple age groups will be found in this main section while information for each age bracket will be found in its own section as indicated below.

Children's Ministries are divided into three separate sections.  The Nursery section is where you will find information for and about children who are birth through 2 years old.  The Preschool Section contains information about programs and activities for children ages 3 through kindergarten and information for children ages first grade through fifth grade can be found in the Elementary section.

Each aspect of our ministries to children is incredibly important to us, just as each child is a treasure to us and to their families.  As these children grow, each class is designed to grow with them.  As they move forward, they will delve deeper and deeper into God's Word while learning more of His love for them and His purpose for their lives.  We are so excited that you will be sharing these important years in your child's life with us.  Our goal is to partner with you as you parent, support you when you need a helping hand, and encourage you during your parenting journey.

Parent's Day Out

Parent’s Day Out is a ministry to families in our community with young children, infants through kindergarten. Preschoolers enjoy a day of skill development to prepare them for kindergarten and formal schooling. Preschoolers participate in pre-reading skills, pre-math skills, socialization, and spiritual development as teachers model a Christ-like attitude daily.

Childcare Ministry

Childcare is provided during some of our church events events that take place outside of the normal Sunday morning, Sunday evening, or Wednesday evening times.

Reservations

Reservations for all childcare events are strongly encouraged. These need to be placed a minimum of one week prior to the event. Parents are asked to contact Arrean Corbin at 405-348-3703 for reservations.

Children present in childcare will receive age appropriate Bible lessons and participate in activities designed to enhance your child’s spiritual, emotional, social, and physical growth.

Childcare Guidelines

Childcare is provided only for church functions.  Parents must attend a church event while the child is in childcare.  This policy includes Sunday and Wednesday nights.

Children will be received in rooms beginning 15 minutes before the event and should be picked up promptly at the conclusion of the event.

A Photo I.D. is required for authorized adults to pick up any child.

Security Procedures for Parents

We are thrilled you have chosen Edmond’s First Baptist Church as the place where your child will learn more about God, Jesus, the Bible, church, people, the natural world, your community, self, family, and how others help us each day. Preschool Security is a priority at EFBC; we want to make sure every preschooler who attends Bible study and worship is safe and secure. We realize that it is very difficult to relax and participate fully in worship if you are worried about your child. So that we can help alleviate some of your concerns, we have a multi-layered security system in place to take care of your child in a loving and secure environment.

Name Tags

The first layer of security procedures is the most visible. As you and your child arrive at EFBC each time, we ask that you stop at the Preschool Reception Desk to receive a name tag for your child. This name tag will be computer generated and your child will wear it on his or her back to prevent him or her from removing it. These name tags serve many purposes, the most important of which is to identify your child. This system also allows us to list any allergies your child might have, who is allowed to pick up your child, and who the emergency contacts will be. You will also receive a security card with bar coded and printed information.  These cards are provided for each parent or authorized person - usually two per family.  Upon arrival, cards are scanned using a bar code reader each time a preschooler attends.  Parents are requested to show a photo I.D. with name matching that printed on the I.D. label when picking up a child from his or her room.

Check-In and Check-Out

The second layer of our system is how children are checked in and out of a classroom each time they arrive and leave. Teachers and care givers keep a list at all times of all children in the room and where the parents can be found within the building.

Parents of children age 3 and under will be issued a pager each time their young child is checked in so that the parents can be contacted in an unobtrusive way if their child needs them. We have found that parents are able to relax and enjoy their time at church when they know their child is receiving the best possible care.

Ongoing Training

In addition to the visible security measures we take for each child, our teachers also receive ongoing training and support as they endeavor to offer each child a nurturing environment in which to learn about God and His love for them.

Kid's Night Out - Friday Fun Night

Kid’s Night Out – Friday Fun Night is open to the community and members of Edmond’s First Baptist Church as space permits. This is an extra activity geared toward Bible study, games, and fun for boys and girls, infants through fifth grade, while parents have a “date night” or simply time to catch up without worry about their child.

Parents reserve a space the Sunday prior to the event by obtaining and filling out a Kid's Night Out envelope (available at the Preschool Reception Desk) including a $2.00 fee per child with a maximum fee of $10.00 per family and placing it into the designated slot at the Reception Desk. No Refunds – No Carry Over Credits – No Exceptions.  Children, infants through grade 5, are eligible to attend.  The deadline for registration is the Sunday prior to the Friday dates.

Visitation - Parent to Parent Ministry

Parent to Parent Ministry involves experienced parents who are willing to mentor other parents through prayer, and support by listening, not judging and offering a place for families to come together to worship.  Mentoring parents need to have access to reliable transportation and a desire to share Christ with the community.  As new families visit and join Edmond's First Baptist Church, adult volunteers will visit and minister to those parents and their children.

Visitation Volunteer Needs

Adults to visit and minister to new families with children.  Volunteers must complete an application that includes permission to do a background screening.

The Fall Festival

The Fall Festival is EFBC's involvement in a community event and is designed to introduce the church and it’s ministry to the people of Edmond during Halloween. Inflatable moon bouncers, carnival type games, face painting, music, and candy are available to all children and their families who come to the Fall Festival in downtown Edmond.

Fall Festival Resources Needs

Individually wrapped candy, gum, and small toys are needed to give to event participants.

Volunteer Needs

Senior high students through adults are needed to host booths and help with various activities. Volunteers need to complete an application with permission to do a background screening.

Angel Breakfast

The Angel Breakfast is a special event for church members and the community. Entire families come for a breakfast of “Angel Food," and then enjoy crafts, games, and a special story time for preschoolers from preschool through fifth grade. Two different story times are provided as families visit the stable. One for preschoolers and one for elementary age children focusing on the Christmas story including how the angels declared the birth of Jesus. Games and crafts are offered to help focus on the true meaning of Christmas.  Angel Breakfast is hosted annually on the first Saturday in December in the Fellowship Hall on the campus of Edmond's First Baptist Church.  The next Angel Breakfast will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2008

Volunteer Needs

Adults to assist preschoolers and children with crafts.  Volunteers are welcome following approved applications that include a confidential background screening form.
